About the Instructor

Welcome to the course. My name is Tonya Peak. I am glad you are here.

Education:

Masters in Business Administration

Bachelor of Science in Accounting

Family:

I have three beautiful children ages 13, 9, and 8. I currently reside in Texas with my husband of fourteen years. I have lived in several states, including Georgia, Virginia, and Florida. My husband served in the Navy for several years.

While we did all of this moving around, I was able to complete my education online. I have taken over 46 online college courses over the past 6 years. So, like you, I know what its like to take online courses. Sometimes it can be a challenge, but you can do it! I will be here for you every step of the way.

Personal teaching philosophy

I am passionate about what I do and the following statement is my personal promise to you:

When I started teaching online, I wanted to be different. I at least wanted to be among the very best online instructors. I was a full-time online student for six years. I received both my Bachelors and my Masters entirely online. I know what it’s like to have an instructor that really cares and one that barely gets by. I made a personal promise or an oath, to always treat my students with dignity and respect. I believe that feedback should be often and in a timely fashion. I grade and return assignments several days each week. I check on my classes almost every day of the week-I work on the weekends too. I believe in fair treatment and second chances. I also don't like to overwhelm students with "busy work". I believe that students should have a voice and be comfortable expressing themselves. I believe relationships with students should last beyond the end of the class schedule-I am here for you now and I will be here for you after the course. I love what I do and I can't imagine ever doing anything else. Without you, my dream wouldn't be possible. Thank you! -Tonya D. Peak
