I’m Gary D. Bingham, and I am your instructor for Legal Aspects of Corrections ADJU 15 Online. I have regularly taught three separate corrections related classes over the internet for Barstow College since January 2001. I’ve taught corrections classes as adjunct faculty for Bakersfield College for eleven years. I am also adjunct faculty at Chapman University since January 2001. I have a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Cal. State University Bakersfield, CA. and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice (Corrections Emphasis) from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I retired from the California Department of Corrections in June of 2000 after 27 years. I worked at the following institutions: San Quentin, Correctional Training Facility (Soledad) and the California Correctional Institution (Tehachapi). Held the following positions: Associate Warden; Facility Captain; Program Administrator; Correctional Lieutenant; Correctional Program Supervisor III; Correctional Counselor III, II, I; Special Emergency Response Team Commander; In service Training Lieutenant; Textiles Superintendent; Correctional Officer. I worked as an intake officer for a juvenile court in Nebraska. I also spent 31 ½ years in the U.S. Army Reserve retiring as a Colonel. My branches are infantry, military intelligence, military police. Key assignments included: Battalion Commander, Command Duty Officer (CINCPAC), Company Commander. I spent two years on active duty in Vietnam (one year in the infantry, one year working in Intelligence) (awarded the purple heart and the combat infantry men’s badge). My wife and I reside in Apple Valley, CA. She is a retired Bank of America Branch Manager. Our son is a computer engineer in Silicon Valley.
