About the Instructor: Dr. Robert S. Stinson
I received my B.S. in Biology from Missouri Southern State College, M.S. in Biology from the University of New Mexico, and Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas. I did a two-year post-doctorate in Immunology at Mississippi State University. After a research stint in the Department of Surgery at Washington University of St. Louis, I accepted a teaching-research position at the University of Alabama.
I worked for SPAFAS, Inc., a subsidiary of Merck Pharmaceutical, doing research in monoclonal antibody and ELISA development for viral testing. From there I was at Pilgrim's Pride Corporation for 14 years as Laboratory Director and later Vice-President for Continuous Improvement.
At the community college level I have taught at South Texas College (McAllen, TX), Bainbridge College (Bainbridge, GA), the Community College of Southern Nevada (Las Vegas, NV), and since the Fall 2006 semester, Barstow Community College.
I have taught the following courses at the community college level: General Biology I and II, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, General Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Environmental Biology, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Human Sexuality, Food Toxicology, Food Safety, Human Biology, and a one semester course in General Biology.
