the Instructor
Mr. Bret Sage
Bret Sage is a biology instructor at Barstow Community College. Mr. Sage graduated from CSU Bakersfield in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. After CSUB, he spent a year at Cuesta College studying zoology and preparing for graduate school. In 1990, he returned to school where he earned a Master of Science degree in zoology from California State University, Long Beach, in 1994. Using the behavior of sea birds, he investigated the evolutionary and phylogenetic (family) relationships between several members of the gull and tern family for his thesis project. Mr. Sage has since worked at a chiropractic college, Alan Hancock Community College and as a high school instructor in California and in South Carolina. In 2003, he and family moved to Barstow to begin full-time teaching. In March of 2007, he was granted tenure at BCC.
