Lesson One
1. Read & submit completed syllabus.
2. Complete online student orientation at http://www.bcconline.com/orient.
3. Post 2-3 paragraph introduction and respond to two other students’ posts.
4. Begin Lesson 2 work in order to stay ahead of schedule.
1. SYLLABUS:
You must fill out the syllabus if you intend to take the course. You must be officially registered for the course in order to submit this syllabus. The syllabus should be submitted no later than the third day of class. No work will be graded until the syllabus is submitted correctly with the submittal form page. Failure to submit the syllabus will result in being dropped from the course. Read through the syllabus and follow all directions.
2. ORIENTATION INSTRUCTIONS:
You must complete the student orientation requirements, which are located at http://www.bcconline.com/orient/ prior to starting the class materials. This area was created to help students move through the course website more effectively.
In addition, look through Lessons 2-9 and the discussion thread topics. The more you know about the course work and schedule, the better you can plan and manage your time. This will benefit you greatly in a fast-paced 9 week course.
3. POST 2-3 PARAGRAPH INTRODUCTION AND RESPOND TO TWO OTHER STUDENTS’ POSTS:
Your introduction and any other future postings to discussion
areas count as class participation. This is where you get to interact with other
online students in this course. When you don’t post to discussion areas or read
and respond to other students’ postings, you are not participating in the class.
As you can guess, it is important to your grade to stay involved in discussions
we have. In addition, the instructor frequently posts important information in
discussion threads.
Please post a 2 to 3 paragraph introduction. (A paragraph typically has 5–12
sentences.) Consider writing about your field of study at Barstow, what kind of
work you do, any interesting hobbies you have, what your fears and hopes are
regarding this course, and any other information that is appropriate to share
with classmates.
Respond to at least 2 introductions by other students.
For this course, regarding the discussion thread assignments, you are to post your response to the assigned topic by Thursday midnight (5 points). Respond to two other postings any day of the Lesson week (5 points each). This schedule applies to all posts during the course. Late posts will not be graded. Spelling, punctuation and other types of errors in your posts will cost you points.
4. BEGIN LESSON 2 WORK:
Once you finish Lesson 1, go ahead and start Lesson 2. This course moves quickly, so it is imperative that you stay on schedule.
I advise all students to look a week ahead at lessons. This way, you know what is coming up the next week and will be able to plan wisely. When you have the opportunity, work ahead. This will benefit you greatly and relieve stress.
