THREADED DISCUSSION INSTRUCTIONS
In this class the discussion board may seem a bit
different from other discussion boards you may have participated on in past
on-line classes at Barstow Community College.
In this class we will be using "threaded" discussions.
While the THREADED method requires a bit more clicking, hopefully you will see
the benefits:
Your post is not lost on a longer discussion page
You can read responses to your post without having to go searching for them
You can respond more directly to fellow students.
POSTING: Each person must post their
original post by clicking on "Start New Thread" after any posted threads. (See
yellow arrow on screen shot below)
READING POSTS: To read your fellow student's post, you must open each
thread.
RESPONDING TO POSTS: Simply post while viewing that student’s post
STANDARD VIEWING: You will see the last poster and the number of posts to
any specific thread. (See green arrow on screen shot below)

VIEWING USING TREE VIEW: A popular option is to open a “Tree View.” This allows
a quick visual of all of the discussions and posts. Simply click on the link
“Tree View” at the bottom of the page. (See orange arrow on screen shot below)
