Meet Your Instructor: Mr. Knapp
Hello and welcome to my online fire technology class. My name is Chuck Knapp and I started my fire service career in 1975 with the Victorville Fire Department. I accepted the Fire Inspector position with Barstow Fire Department in 1980 and remained there until my retirement in 2000, having served my last 17 years as an Engine Company Fire Captain.
My teaching experience includes several years of ROP fire science classes for Barstow, Granite Hills, and Victor Valley high schools; over 25 years of college level fire science and fire technology classes for both Barstow and Victor Valley community colleges; and close to ten (10) years of teaching topic specific educational and manipulative short courses to several fire departments throughout the state. I have also been on staff for more then 15 CSFM accredited Fire Fighter I academies, seven (7) CSFM accredited Fire Fighter II academies, and have taught at several Fire Explorer academies.
I not only teach at local community colleges, but stay active in today’s fire service by serving on the Board of Directors of several statewide affiliates; including CSFA, FSTI, and FIRESCOPE. I also am on the Governor’s OES Fire and Rescue advisory committee as well as the OES Region VI CICCS for 400 level ICS positions.
