About the Instructor
My name is David Reeves, I am the Director of Contracting and Purchasing at the Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow CA
. I retired from the Air Force in 1995, came to work at Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow in May 2001 as a Navy Acquisition Intern. This was a 3-year program designed to lead the intern through the requirements needed in the acquisition field. During the 3 years, I attended all the required DAWIA (Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act) courses and was awarded my Level I and Level II Certification in Contracting.
During my second year into the program, my predecessor decided to retire early and I was placed in his position early as the (CCO) Chief of Contracting Office, which I have filled since March 2003.
On April 17, 2004 I completed the Intern program and was picked up full time as a Barstow employee, Supervisory Contract Specialist GS-12. I current have my Level III Certification in Contracting.
So you can see that learning never stops. I would not be in the position I am today if not for the educational base I established when I first started my college education. I have worked for and achieved a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA), a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education, an Associates is Applied Sciences and an Associates in General Studies. I am married, have two grown children, two granddaughters and live in Apple Valley California
